I am looking for ways to organize my tackle in the garage and wanted to see if anyone has some good ideas. Pictures would be great.

I try to keep it simple. It is best for me to keep them in packages. Pegboard works great for that. Just hang them up in rows and you are done. A row for lizards, creature baits, senkos, flukes and so fourth keeps it simple. For the plastics that I keep large numbers of; like 10 packages of lizards for Mexico; I will put them in gallon zip bags and store in a duffle bag. I know what I will be taking down there so there isn't a problem knowing what is in that bag.
I have one small pegboard area for odd stuff which is only one or two packages of a lot of different stuff that I don't fish with that much. But when I need it I do not want to dig through a box of old baits to find them.
I built 5 open face wood racks to hold the plano plastic boxes for all the crankbaits. Each box is labled with magic marker, large cranks, med. cranks, small cranks, top water and etc. Each box has a slot to slide into so I can see the front. Each rack holds 12 boxes stacked verticlly on begboard shelves. The racks set on top of one of the counter tops. They only stick out 10" from the wall so that still leaves room to work on that counter top.
I bought the Starlite long containers from Wal Mart to fix for spinnerbaits. They have the latch on each end to snap the lid on tight. I cut pieces of 1/4 inch PVC pipe and put one every 4 inches in those boxes to hang the spinnerbaits on. I then cut a notch with the hack saw in the pipes so each bait has a place to rest. Each piece of pipe has a cap on the end then I took a self tapping screw and screwed each end of the pieces of pipe in place from the outside of the box. Each box has 6 pipes and each pipe holds 10 baits; that is 60 baits per box. I have 5 of those.
I use a couple of those long boxes in my boat just to line soft plastics up in. The Starlites are 9" X 20". I usually put 2 packages of everything that I am going to fish with for that trip. I just keep all the backup packages in gal. bags and in a small gym bag just in case I run out of something.

Find a contractor that does remodels. I found one that had just removed 28 cabinets, I purchased 4 uppers and 4 lowers and installed them for $130. Then for a backing on the wall I used a sheets of peg board. Total cost $200 and it's a clean look with Plano boxes in cabinets and excess refill baits organized on peg board.

I keep mine in boxes spread all over my garage, I pile it on tables , my lawn mowers, ice chests, the freezer, every where. When my wife asks me to clean it up I ignore her or say I will get to it later. System has worked well for me. Gotta watch putting on the floor because dog will pee on it.

Very neatly orginized walk in closet. Lures are in Bass Pro 370 tackle trays stored and labeled by lure type, cranks, lipless, tops, lizards, worms, craws, etc, and those are neatly stored in athletic travel bags that I bought at Walmart with a shoulder harnesses. Rods and reels store in a rod rack in the same closet. All protected by a bad arse yellow lab and an alarm system..........

My professional system of tackle organization has been adopted by thousands of anglers all across the country. Dont forget the surface area on top of the washer and dryer, plenty o' room there

I've accepted the fact that's how I am too. Even if I try to organize it only last so long. Sometimes when deciding what to throw next I dig around in my rod/bait/cooler/spare locker until the right bait catches my eye.

I just got done organizing mine today. Built a peg board to hold all the new extra baits and plastics. I previously had them laying around in boxes and bags , I got tired of not knowing what I had everywhere. Culled tackle from the boxes in my boat and put them in extra boxes on a metal shelf besides the peg board.

Peg board is 4'x8' and I used 3 1"x4" s to frame it, the most expensive part was the pegs. Total board cost around $45 to build, the pegs were like $50 for 55 of them. So total was right at $100

Calling it a night, been working on the tackle/rod organization most of the day. I've come a long way but still have a ways to go. Really like the imput from everyone. I will have picture of the finished product sometime soon.
