Going to be doing a "Beer and BBQ" road trip to the Hill country in October in which I will be stopping in Lockhart, Shiner, New Braunfels, and up the Devil's Backbone from Fischer up to Blanco to the Real Ale Brewery. Want to find some good meat markets to pick up some steaks, ribs, sausage ect to bring back with me. Any good markets in those towns that I should stop at?

You might change the title to Hill Country.

Best jerky I've ever had:

Rabke's Table Ready Meats

3875 Eckert Rd, Willow City, TX 78675 (830) 685-3266

Out in the middle of nowhere but fantastic. Drive the Willow city Loop whilst your there.

get the Jalapeno and Cheese linked Sausage at Penshorns, and the Garlic. At Granzins, there linked sausage is good too, go for Granzins Hot Dogs, they are the best.

Also New Braunfels Smokehouse for some quality commercialezed smoked meats.

I'll be in Llano, Mason, and Junction in September. Ya'll have any tips for good meat markets in those towns? I'm mainly interested in sausage that hasn't been smoked yet. Gonna smoke it on my own pit when I get back.

If you're ever heading south out of San Antonio there is a great place in Castroville called Dziuk's Meat Mkt. They've been open 45 yrs. and make some outstanding sausage and beef jerkey.

Mike's Barnyard BBQ in Liberty Hill is hard to beat.
