We live on fork and really like it. Been here near 20 years. our friends have some lots in white oak shores for sale and there's one lot in our division. It is inside lot. Osborn Estates.
fork has changed from what it used to be. Everybody going to Falcon and not many jet ski folks here either. There's still the underwater trees that they will find sooner or later. We are 12 miles to sulphur springs hospital and 12 miles to Quitman and about 20 miles to winnsboro. Quitman is building a new hosptial. And sulphur springs is getting a IHOP. does'nt get much better than that. haha. good luck. We also about 30 minutes from tawokoni, and bout 30 to Cooper. Bob sandlin and cypress springs, lake winnsboro are close as well.

good morning,

just a consideration, MARSHALL,TX..major hospital in town..30mn. to shrevport(major medical facalities) and regional VA hospital(where i go)....low cost of living...30 min to longview....BassPro, and 3 acadamies in the area...and plenty of shopping for the lady...

Now fishing...i fish Caddo, LOP, Perky(hot water lake), murval, palestine, tyler, patman, lake nag, the new lake at garrison opens sept 1, pinkston, rayburn, north end of TB, and about 1 3/4 hr to fork...lots of choices in the smaller towns like lone star...i have not been to the monticello area _____yet...lol

golf everywhere(cheeeep)..and for the most part, pretty good neighbors...

good luck in your search and congrats on the retirement...

PURA VIDA,
bluebonnet2

Hideaway Lakes ,close to Tyler but very private, golf from your back yard if you want, and very little fishing pressure

Richland Chambers is an awesome lake (beautiful water, huge fish) and I have looked there a lot ...BUT be aware the majority of the HOA's there have some really unreasonable requirements. Don't get me wrong, I understand the need to keep a neighborhood looking good, but a lot of them have overkill and shut out a huge segment of people that would be good homeowners. There would be a great market for homes in the 125-200,00 range there, but it is all over priced and over regulated. That's the biggest reason it hasn't developed more with restaurants, shopping, etc. , since 1988 when it filled.

Right where I am at, near Melissa, TX.
Within 1 hour and 15 minutes or less drive to Fork, Cooper, Twak, Ray Hubbard, Lewisville, Lavon, Texoma and Ray Roberts.

What more could you ask for?

Tawakoni because its the best all around lake in the area and the crappie fight each other for space under your boat dock.

For a quiet and less traffic than anything around this area, I'd look in the tri-lakes area around Pittsburg/Mt. Pleasant/Mt.Vernon.......They are still busy lakes at times but I think about as peaceful and scenic as you are going to find that close to DFW.......

Well let's see, since the so call "Nest Egg" we were building has gone to %$#@ in a handbasket, thanks to several factors, we (wife and I) had to reconsider the retirement date. So with that in mind, we believe Mars will be colonized by then so thats an option right there

Big RV.

North in the summer, south in the winter. Fish from my kayak.

Cedar Creek was our choice, Had a place on fork before this place, cypress springs before that. Weekdays are great fishing days, weekends yard work and honey dos . Not to far from grandkids functions, doctors etc. And can commute if the funds run out.......lol !!
