Just curious on how to get into it. I see a bunch of guys on here part of collegiate fishing teams. I did a search and couldn't really find a whole lot of info. What schools have it? How does it all work? I would love more than anything to get into it, hopefully it will help me ride out the final couple years of college more smoothly lol I'm transfering to UTA after the spring semester, but not totally limited there. I found where they used to have a fishing team (not sure if they still do) and it looked as though in the past not too many people were into it. I may be wrong just what I could gather up on the webz. Any input or advice would be awesome guys.

Most clubs are not well publicized, even at their own university. If you can't find them, go check with rec sports, or whoever is in charge of managing student clubs there, and ask if they've had any activity or participation lately. Teams have to be recognized by the university so there should be some record of them. If not, it's simple to start a new one, or restart an idle one. Look here for starting a club: Association of Collegiate Anglers http://www.collegiatebasschampionship.com/club-resources.htmlCollege B.A.S.S.http://www.bassmaster.com/registration-info-carhartt-bassmaster-college-seriesCollege FLWhttp://www.collegefishing.com/startaclub.cfmThe ACA/BoatUS series makes it very simple to participate. Most tournaments are no entry-fee, big turnouts, and lots of sponsor support. College B.A.S.S. makes you jump through more hoops, but the potential rewards are massive (birth in the Classic). Don't know much about FLW but they have improved their college efforts and that's the best place to make you some cash. If you have any specific questions feel free to ask. Been in the game a while, might be able to answer it.

All those replies are heading you in the right direction. I am only 1 of 6 members of our bass fishing team at UT Dallas not real big but it sure does make school a bit more enjoyable

most clubs aren't that big, only 6 to 12 members is the normal size. Hell did you see the harvard guys on the Cabela's big bass bash. One is fishing with a bait caster rod and spinning reel throwing a spinner bait. We all had a good laugh on facebook.
