Hello,
I am new to TFF but trying to catch up. I just read the Pond fishing thread and while that is a fantastic catch, I was left wondering, how can one find ponds and how does one go about getting permission to fish in them? I would recon that owners probably don't like strangers fishing their own stock?

I am currently based in Aransas Pass, any suggestions would be more than welcome!

Yeah I use google maps to find new waters. You can even zoom in super close to see bank structure. I am going to try out a new river/pond later today that I found on google.

maps maps and more maps.
before I was familiar with search engines on
the internet I would find ponds by looking
at a Mapsco book.
Public ponds, such as in city parks,
show up along with the streets and freeways.
it's all there on the page,
and the directions are right there.
I just moved to a new city myself.
After going to the neighboring cities websites
I searched their public parks to see if they contained ponds.
it was only a mouse click away.

Thanks for the input guys, will be looking for ponds near Aransas Pass - although I think the closest lake is Coletto Creek Reserve.
tight lines!

Google Earth>google maps. Not only can you visually scan any area on earth you can see alot of structure on lakes that ouu would'nt notice without a map like creek bends, submerged islands and changes in rock/boulder size (this one is pretty apparent sometimes on some bodies of water).

Don't overlook detention ponds adjacent to apartment complexes or near light industrial warehouses. These often contain a variety of fish.
