Hello all, good morning, i hope you are having a nice day, my name is Abraham, i leave near "south padre island" and some friends and me were planing to go and try to fish, but a guy tell us that we need a $20 dollars license to cast a rod, so the plan just got canceled for that, but i want to make sure, Do i really need a license to cast a rod in the border of the beach? or in the docks? we wont use a boat or something, just go to the docks, and fish from there, a lot of friends already did that years ago but we dont want to take a ilegal risk.

YES you do need a fishing licence to fish even have your line in any kind of water. The best thing to do is if you're just going for the day is to go to a bait shop or local academy and buy a Day fishing license for only 11$

But the license need to be per person, or with only one we can fish? we are 4 guys, and we have only 3 rods.

Whoever has the rod needs to also have a license...Even if you cast 1 time you need a license... !! Also - update everyone on size limits and how many your are allowed to keep. A ticket for undersized fish or over limit fish is very expensive!

We dont want to keep the fish, we only want to have a good time with my friends and throw the fish back to the ocean, then we need 4 licenses? sorry for the expresion but this really sucks, we wont pay that, you know, any one of us work, we are studying and we dont have much money to buy 4 licenses, i think we will cancel the plan. T.T!!!!

If you are fishing at a State park, you do not need a fishing license. Not sure offhand if there are any state parks near you.

Also, you can buy a one day license for less than $20 if you're just wanting to get a taste for fishing.

There are 2 state parks..
Boca Chica State Park & Brazos Island State park....

I'm not sure about fishing over there or how difficult it is to get there, but I think the only way is from Brownsville...

Last time I checked casting out a lure or bait into the water for the purpose of catching a fish was called fishing and requires a license.

If you are under 17 years of age you do not need a license.

u should just buy a lifetime licence for like $170

LOL, maybe 50 years ago.

It's $1,000 right now for the lifetime fishing license, $1,800 for the lifetime combo.

I'm still kicking myself for not getting a combo in 05 when it was only a grand.

Wow thats crazy, I have a lifetime hunting licence for Kansas and it was only $450.00
