I will try to make this sort and to the point We have been thinking of the idea of doing youth fishing trips...for parents that don't have the time or don't know how to show their kids how to fish...just a basic take a kid fishin kinda thing ...but get paid for it...I guess kinda like baby sitting the older ones :p Anyway...I'm sure there will be a need for some type of liability insurance ...but how do I go about getting it?...and I guess getting a guide licence would be a have to What do you guys think...would it work?? My wife is a school teacher and I am amazed at how many of our youth are not taken fishing ...even tho their Dads usually fish So in short...what would it take lgally ...to set this up? I have a boat and do catch fish regularly...These trips are just a basic ...lets go fishing and see whats biting ...but ata the same time teach 'em a few things...like how to tie on a hook

I can't answer your question about the insurance, although liability is a given.....
But I wouldn't even think about puting a child or youngster in my boat without a parent or guardian on board also.
There's way too many wackos out there that will say you did something to their kid.

Insurance a guide license a dependable boat and lots of patience and an ability to catch fish under adverse conditions. Not just you being able to catch fish but a way where all in the boat no matter there ability to be able to catch fish. I offer on my guide service that kids under 12 fish for free with a paying adult. Sometimes I think I should charge double for the kids and others I should charge dbl for the Adults. Good luck.

I would suggest you contact your local Big Brothers/Big Sisters group and talk to them. They surely have been faced with the same questions and situations. Love what you are doing! Best of luck!

Texas does not require commercial insurance. I know very, very few guides who actually infact have it. It will run you in the neighborhood of $1200. - $1500. a year for $300,000.00.
I teach a "Bassin' Class." If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

The next class is a beginner's class and will be held on Ray Hubbard at the Restaurant. At least I think so, they haven't gotten back with me on If I can have space to teach the class but did tell me that they didn't see a problem. You can get more information at my web site. Give me a call if you're planning on attending?
