......Sportster? They were in Tyler and maybe Longview.

I'd give a finger to go back and shop there one more time. Just walking down memory lane and thought I'd see if anyone else wanted to take a walk there to......

I have spent the past 50 years spitting in their mouths...increasing the size of Texas fish with every spit!

AND DON'T FORGET BIG JOHN "SANTA" BASS!!!
I remember they had that big table with bins of worms. They would sell em by the cup full. Whatever you could cram in a drink cup, it was like $3 or something....

What was that store in Longview that closed down? It was on Gilmer rd, sold castaic when they first came out. I was like 12 when it was open but it was strictly fishing. I'd spend my whole paycheck in there during the summers. Man they had everything. Name brand and local stuff

Joe's is where all the locals in tyler hung out.. Hung out there when I was a kid over 50 years ago When my folks would come to tyler I begged to go to Joes just to see the pictures of fish and droll over the baits in the glass cases.

and then there was TONYS in longview It was in the same parking lot as Gibsons IF you needed a gun and TOny did not have it he would tell you to wait while he went in the back to get the gun What he did was walk out the back to Gipsons get the gun and bring it back and sell to you
If you walked into his door you were met with Hey coach or Hey big nose.

Yep I remember the Sportster and their commercials with John Bass and Fritz Von Erich and they always were doing the bear claw move and I also remember the stuffed bear they had in the store.

I think you are refering to J&B Sporting Goods. Friends of my parents owned the place & it was a good tackle/hunting store.

I also remember trading at Tony's H&T. Man that was a great store! Plus I really miss The Sportster. They had the first G.Loomis rods I had ever seen. I was a great place to shop!!!!
