Ok for all those who refuse to look back on old post and see the answers to everyone else questions
Fishing right now on Texoma is as good as I can ever remember for this time of year.
With this weeks cooler temps water temps seem to have fallen slightly down into the mid 80's
Limits + of good fish are being caught everyday on just about any method you wanna use.
Lure fishing has been very good .. Most days depending on my crews I start off chunking top water plugs.. On a good day we can have out limits of 30-50 fish all on top in just a couple hours..these top water fish are mostly just box fish in the 12-17 inch range but the action is great.. Some days I'm seeing 10 acres of fish boiling the water ..literally for as far as you can see..of course this attracts a lot of traffic but on weekdays you can have it all to yourself.. Yesterday ( Monday) my group had acres of top water fish for three solid hours with not another boat in sight !!!
Best top water lure for me has been a small 3 inch chug bug..I have had luck with lures mostly with buck tail or feathers tied on back hooks.. Seems that once the tail feathers come off the lures don't get bit near as much. If you look at what they are chasing on top they are very small micro shad.. I believe the fish will hit the feather and not the lure..
Just my opinion.
Slabs are working as well and again I'm down sizing my slabs to smalelr profile slab...Color doesn't matter to me but size does... I'm not getting hit near as good with big slabs as I am with small.
I'm using slabs from moe's tackle. Dang I can't remember what it's called.. Duck, help me
out..I think it's the SSS slab ??
As for swim baits, sassys have not been working for me. I'm using cohos from moe's as well..I'll take a 4 inch coho and cut an inch off the head to make it smaller..jig head size really doesn't matter. I'm still using 1 oz heads.
A month ago live shad wasn't working as good as lures now the last two weeks
Live shad has again been great..drifting bait on shallow flats in 12-25 feet of water has been producing all my bigger fish.
Bait is still fairly easy to get very early in the am for me...not sure how it is after 5 am
As far as where to fish??? It seriously does not matter. Right now the are fish everywhere on the lake. Tons of sand bass west of hwy 377... Tons of box fish east of 377 to the islands.
Mill creek area..river channel from highport to TI point.
Washita flats..the cross..way north between the bridges, table top ,platter flats, Alberta creek.....seriously doesn't matter...I can't seem to go anywhere and not find fish right now.
The only place I haven't been the last few weeks is down towards the dam and way up inside big mineral..
I've been picking peeps all over the lake and wherever I am it's easy to find fish..
This week Been catching lots of over 20 inch fish but like I said all my big fish have been on bait..
Typical day for me right now is to go catch top water fish for first couple hours to load up on box fish then go catch all our big ones drifting bait..
It's as good as it gets so go get ya some...
If ya don't like the crowds where your at just leave and go somewhere else. It's easy to find them by yourself. Right now...
