Hi this is my first post. I have a pass to fish on Fort Hood, but I have a friend who doesn't have a pass yet but is going to get one, is the fine really steep if my friend comes with me?

Welcome to the forum. Not sure about the fines but I would think it would be more than its worth.

I fish on Hood alot, and you will run into a Game Warden. Everytime I fish there I get checked atleast once. I believe if your friend does not have a range pass it is a tresspassing fine. If your friend is caught fishing without a state and Ft. Hood fishing license its a hefty fine.... plus they could possibly snag up all your fishing eqiupment and vehicle and your friend could end up on the blotter and be in some sh*& with there chain of command and might have to go see the Post CSM.....my opinion, wait for your friend to get all the proper documents. It could be more trouble than its worth.

Are you referring to fishing the stocked lakes/ponds on Ft. Hood? If so, you both need a Texas State Fishing License, Area Access Card and Ft. Hood Fishing Permit. Get what is required - you don't want to set up your gear and get busted for not following the rules. If you need more info - click here and scroll down to FISHING: http://hoodmwr.com/sportsmenscenter.htm

Do not even try it the game wardens are on site all the time. They will check you and just remember you are on federal land...

Thanks you guys. Problem solved, he just got the on Post paperwork he needs to fish on post. So we are heading out there today. We had the fishing licenses already but I really wanted to go yesterday, so we held off. I hope we can get some bites!

I would just make sure I had a valid state fishing license and hit Lake Belton before putting up with all of that government garbage.

Here is the cat we caught at Lake Lanier on post this past Thursday. I'm glad my friend did get his Fort Hood pass (we both had fishing licenses, but he didn't have the pass while I did), because sure enough I went fishing early this morning and a game warden checked my paperwork.
