Applications are now being accepted for the Lake Naconiche fishing/boating lottery drawing.

Thirty names will be selected by computer draw for the first 14 days after the lake opens. The drawing is for 30 boat/trailer rigs, per day.

The opening date for the new 692-acre lake in Nacogdoches County has been set for Sept. 1. All applications must be in by the close of the business day on August 24.

This lake has excellent habitat with generous mix of grass and wood. It opens under a five fish, 18 inch minimum length limit.

You can portage small boats/kayaks at the park ramp without participating in the lottery, provided the vessel is not carried on a trailer and there are available parking spaces in the park area. There is a $5 fee for launching in the park.

Landowners will be allowed to portage boats from their property at no charge.

The way I read it, if your name is drawn you're only allowed to fish on one of the 14 days. Is that right? Who dictates who fishes on what days?

Also, if I am selected, can I give my trip to someone (is it transferable)?

The way I read it is that they will draw 30 names for each day. So "Luck of the draw" dictates who fishes what day. If you can not fish that day then there will be less than 30 boats on the lake that day (meaning they will not draw another name) It said they want your DL# to verify your ID at the gate so I would say no your spot would not be transferable.

yes, random draw for each day from # of apps received, if you cannot go on said day that you were drawn, then you are chit out of luck and they will not redraw to replace you.

I put mine in, what the hell $5 donation to fish a lake, or to be one of the first few, I am hoping ofr 1-3, any other day then I am out and I am okay with donating my money.

You can have as many on the boat as your boat regualtions states

I'm in east Texas, but not THAT EAST. I haven't heard anything about the place.
