I've received 8 inches of rain in the past 18 hours, North Rockwall. Hubbard and Lavon are on the rise, http://www.swf-wc.usace.army.mil/cgi-bin/rcshtml.pl?page=Reports&report=fish This site updates every 20 or 30 minutes. I'm guessing Hubbard will be up at least a foot by sunrise in the morning. Why are they releasing water in lakes that are 2 to 10 feet low?

My back yard is well above pool level. Lakes are looking good!
I do enjoy a good Squirt now and then.

Why are they releasing water in lakes that are 2 to 10 feet low? I've been told there is a natural wetlands area downstream of the dam, so they release water to keep it flooded.

No rise in tawakoni level... Yet

Here is a link to info on the Wetlands downstream from Ray Hubbard: http://www.wetlandcenter.com/waterreuse/default.htmlThe wetlands were man made and return enough water to fill lake Lavon each year. Like all rivers with dams, a minimum river flow must be maintained. The Rowlett and Duck Creek Wastewater Treament plants provides most of the minimum flow in the East Fork in summer. Just as the wastewater treatment plants in Plano and Allen provide water to Rowlett Creek going to Lake Ray Hubbard. -RonC

Tawakoni has actually dropped since the rain started here last tuesday. Over a five day period it rained 2.87 inches at a lakeside utility plant. Lake dropped .02 as of a few minutes ago. Dry, cracked ground got most of it.
