There seem to be a high number of motors these days with blown/replaced powerheads. I know there are probably a ton of variables here but my question is how safe is it to purchase a boat that's had a powerhead replaced? Is it something to avoid completely or are these great deals I am seeing worth it? Thanks I welcome all feedback.

Only safe if powerhead has warranty from a reputable repair shop.

It is a great chance for you to start out with a new motor that you get to take care of, know the history of, keep track of hours, know when the impeller was change. All these factors are over and above buying a used engine. Cary ps. bypass the oil injection if its not a Yamaha.

i don't think it's necessarily something to walk away from unless the shop that did the work is not reputable.
research the new powerhead. make sure it's a factory replacement. or atleast been rebuilt by a quality shop.
personally i've learned my lessons on who works on my motors and who i recommend.
if you find a boat you like and the powerhead has been replaced. do your research about the motor. if you can't get the right answers....then walk away!!!

I would also bet that most times you won't even know if it has been replaced. Do the right thing and pay the $100 for a shop to check it out and report back to you. Compression test, cylinder wall condition, etc.
