I read this in bassmasters magazine its about fishing deep with a deep diver crank bait. What it says is for you to cast out your DD then using your trolling motor move away letting out about 200 yds of line then stop and start cranking. this way your bait is staying down there longer and covering a larger area ...what are your thoughts on this ?

and then if you hook a hog near the beginning of your retrieve you either have to fight it through nearly 200 yards of god knows what or motor back over to it while it gets to duck into cover. It sounds like a good idea...but unless i was trying to hit a REALLY deep point or submerged island I would'nt bother wasting the time to do all that.

I think it would work better on structure with no cover. Fork has too many trees under water.

Yup. Long lineing it is great for working break line just outside the mouth of cove that has a shallow flat with a steep drop.
