Hey fellas, I'm stuck working down here in San Antone. I am looking for a descent spot to do some bank catfishing while i'm down here. I am really close to Lake Baunig, Canyon is not to terribly far away. Any good suggestions, spots, bait? Left the boat at home, so it will have to be from the bank. Went to Academy and bought me another rod, can't never have enought of those. Lil ole 808 rig, but it will get me by. I would like to fish in the evenings after work to wind down and relax a little. Thanks

Huntxtrm,
I agree with parttime. If you want to get on fish quickly. If you don't and prefer bank fishing you can bank fish Braunig, Calavaras or Canyon. If you are fisging Calavaras try to use fresh cut bait for the best results and higher probability to catching a Blue Cat. Others use stink bait for channel and chicken liver and other frozen bait that will probably get you a shot at some channel cats. It would be best without a boat to fish from shore when the sun is down and the big cats come in to feed. If you fish Calavaras try inlet to the deep water ramp. Canyon is more hit and miss due to the size of the lake and the hot weather we have been getting with it's effect on water levels and shore fishing. Braunig if you choose to fish it is primarily a channel lake that will be good to excellent provided there is wind. Fishing and getting lines near reeds would be your best hope from shore. In all cases fishing by boat is the best way to go. Hope this helps some. Good luck.
