Think I'm starting to have withdrawals, lol... Seeing that calm surf in the background of one of the pics is enough to fire me up! Granted, the kiddos wouldn't be happy with the lack of waves to play in but it sure would make for some good fishing!

Green almost to beach yesterday at 91st pier. Good earlier this afternoon as well.
 I fish on a 14 ft piece of plastic.

I'll be down on Monday. Hope it holds. I had a beach vacation this time last year and it was the best surf fishing I have had for trout.

Going down to North Padre Sunday. Never caught anything surf fishing Texas before. What is a good bait for a newbie?

Cliff - take a cast net and catch some mullet. You can fish them live or cut. Using just the head works really well. Stays on the hook since the crabs and hardhead can't tear it up and bull reds love them.

Baffin - would love to hear how your PINS trip goes. My favorite place to fish but too far away for me to get down there very often.

mdobs - thanks for the advice, but i was already on my way...
Fished the breakwall at packery channel and the surf, didn't catch anything, but neither did anyone else I saw on the channel that day. Windy as all get out. Will try mullett next time.
Noticed alot of boats and waders fishing the channel near the Intracoastal on my way home yesterday - hope they did well.
