I've had to really slow down the presentation. Early morning is all thats been producing for me, evening has been bad since the ponds have been baking under the sun all day.

I've been doing ok in the heat. Been getting bites anywhere from 7:00-8:45pm. Friday evening I was getting alot of bites from LMBs on top water lures. Really small fish though. Then Sunday evening I caught a couple 3 lb LMBs and a 6 lb cat on carolina rigged flukes. But they were in the deepest part of the pond about 10-12 foot.

I try to not fish mine in this type of heat. C&R survival can be tough.

Hybrid Stripers in a pond have very high mortality rate in hotter water.

You have hybrids in your Pond?? Surprised they survive at all.

Try fishing the few hr before and after sunrise. This is the coolest it water will be and the fish should be feeding atleast they have been for me. I rarely fish in the afternoon or evening. The water is in the 90s and I dont think they are feeding too much in water that hot.

Horton, I don't have any but an awful lot of people do. They do well in ponds and I've stocked them several times.

They solve the problem of too many LMB in small(1 acre or less) ponds. Most Texas ponds are bass heavy and over eat the forage base. Not so with hybrids. They also do a pretty good job of controlling crappie infestation. They out fight bass and have much better growth rates. However, they seem to have a higher mortality rate when caught in hot weather.

A pond that was producing well for me 2 months ago is real tough right now. They just aren't as feisty! Got skunked yesterday with a friend of mine from 6-8. Not even a nibble! Going back tonight. Hopefully it was the storm that scared them and maybe they are good to go again tonight.

The only thing I have caught in the past 3 weeks was a monster drum and a ton of dinks. I am clearly not putting the bait under their noses. I REALLY need to get my fish finder working.

I have been fishing for bass on several different ponds nearby and have been doing pretty well with darker colored spinnerbaits and swimbaits really close to cover or on edges of weeds. Occasionally get bites on TX rigged plastics...mostly Zoom ultravibe speed craws, green pumpkin.
