My family and I are going to spend the weekend there and we are not taking a boat. We would love to get on some red fish or just fish in general. I would like to know some general information. Like what baits to use, lures to use, where we can fish off the shore/jetties, etc. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks.

I wouldn't go without a boat personally. Been there done that. If you really want to go they do have a pier there but the water is like 4 ft. deep at the end. There is also the north little jetty to fish from. The jetty is too dangerous for the little ones. You might consider Rockport or Fulton instead.

Nothing to do in POC without a boat.

Go to Port A instead.

You can go to Clark's cleaning station & fish from the dock in the evenings, there is a fishing pier that I've seen people catching, there are the small jetties that I've also seen them catching. Also, there is a guy that will take you over to Matagorda Island & then pick you back up. We have also seen guys wade fishing just down from the pier. Also, in the evenings you can fish "The Fishing Center docks. It is a small place but so much better than the over crowded tourist places.

Let wife and kids sleep in and get up an hour before daylight. Take 3rd street past Taylor Ave and into Boggy Bayou. Drive until you hit water (don't get stuck). Wade out thigh deep, use a top water early. Fish around the mouth of Boggy. If other people are there walk about 1.5 miles northeast in the bay to Boggy 2 (Broad Bayou) and fish the mouth of it. I've also caught on redfish magic and norton bull minnow around this area. Lots of drains and oyster shell. Fishing can be good but it's hard work.

If you can come up with a Kayak, there's plenty of good fishing within a short paddle across the ICW.

Sorry to bring back and old post but dude - POC has great wade fishing on the front beach between the white jetties and the ICW jetties.

Also I will second Boggy (keep it quiet will ya?) just north of town. I was with a friend when he caught something close to an 8lb trout there.

AND get a kayak - all the back bays and lagoons are across the ICW, and its shallow-ish all over.

You can't catch a fish on a dry hook.
