This happens A LOT. Don't matter if u used to whack em there if you didn't realize the fish were there now then you should let the one who showed you take advantage now withut you muckin it up.

I have fished every hole in every lake, river and pond I fish. smile

When I take a buddy fishing I make them wear a hood over the head and then I ride around extra before getting to the hole.
That way no one knows where we are! stir

If they are truly your friends then next time have an open conversation with them....

say "I'm going to show you a few spots but I am planning on fishing them next tournament and I would appreciate it if you could leave them alone till then"....if they don't.....

1. get new friends or 2. Realize you value the friendship more than the spot and write it off or 3. Never show them a spot again that you don't want them to know about.

With my buddies, the rule is unless you say something when you share, its ok for me to use.

after all we are guys right? That means we can say what we mean and real men can take that.

I have taken fellow competitors to the lake, showed them things and vice versa. A little communication goes a long way. I usually have no issue with that person fishing a spot on T day that I showed them, if they communicate that to me and let me also fish the area I am fine with it. But to each his own.

I agree,I have even let them tie up to my boat(while anchored) during tournaments. BUT UNKNOWN POT LICKERS SUCK!

A true friend should not have fished your spot. but we have to remember, every spot we fish is someone else's spot. I live on a lake and believe me there are no secret spots left period.and with todays electronics this fact will only become more obivous as more and more people get into this sport.

I have spent a lot of time and money over the years finding fish so I know it can be done. But just like everything else in life, most people don't want to put in the time and effort to do it the hard way. They would rather have someone show them where and how to fish.

We all have 24 hours in a day and 365 days in a year. It costs all of us just as much to pump gas into our trucks and boats as everyone else. I want to be a friend, and I don't regret all the time I've put in on the water over the years. I wouldn't have it any other way.It just sort of aggravates me that so many people want to take short cuts.
