This is my new favorite sunfish lure! I have caught quite a bit of nice size yellow perch, all kinds of sunfish and some small bass on it. Little Nippers I was not aware that Wal-Mart had stuff like this, well the Wal-Marts up here in NorthDakota have em anyways, and they are golden! I've got a question for the serious sunfish fishermen.. When they just aren't biting, should I work fast,slow,erratic,_____? My honey hole back in Tejas produces some monster sunfish and I find it quite difficult to catch them sometimes, any suggestions or tips? Thanks! Hope the fishin is good!

I have a couple of jigs that look like those. I have caught fish using em and have had some fair results.

Nice lookin bait! Gives me some ideas for tying. Thanks for sharing that pic.
Usually, for me anyways, when they aren't biting, no matter what I do, slow, fast, different jerks, (trying not to sound dirty here) diff movements, different depths, something is usually wrong with the water temp, spawning could be a factor, and for the city of Austin anyways-if they are releasing water, my fishing is realllly screwed up. I just have to bite the bullet for however long till the setting is right again.
If you do not have an issue with the three things above, I would say it's a sign that there is not any fish there. Time to find a new spot.
I would also try both artificial and live bait. Sometimes no matter what you do, the fish won't bite till they like the right bait.
Hope that helps.
And remember, sunfish can be a real pain in the [censored]. I swear they are smarter than me at times.

Sorry, been off-line for a while. I've used those 'Lil Nippers before. They are great when the fish seem to have lockjaw. I used to fish them beneath a weighted float. It's slow fishing but works wonders when bream and crappie aren't biting anything else. They work great in and around reeds, weedbeds and just about all other vegetation. If the fish are biting a little more aggressively, than it's more fun to catch them on just about anything else. It's not the most exciting way to catch bream, but it can sometimes be the most productive.

Well there are definitely fish there that's for sure!! The place we go is one of those places where you almost can not use artificial lures for anything. LMB crappie perch nothing.
the cast net comes in handy that's for sure!!
Caught 12 LMB last night and hooked into about 30, the bass out there are CRAZY!! But of course the airport couldn't keep up with my bag so we didn't have the nippers or weights I brought back..
But thanks!

Yep I've been using those a lot. Mostly the pure white or ones with a touch of yellow in them. Jigging the off the bottom mainly. Been catching big bluegills and some small black bass on them.

Looks very much like a featherjig. I tie them in all colors - mostly on 1/32 oz jig heads. Usually fish them attached to a safety pin spinner (like a beetle spin). Very effective and almost weedless.

I fished in the Gulf recently and those look like what we used to catch bait. It was a Japaneez rig about 3 feet long with about 10 of those jigs on the one line. Cost about $3.00. Wish I had brought some back to Dallas.

Looks interesting, I usually fish with live bait but if that isn't working I will go to plastic/steel lures.

You talking about a Sabiki rig? I got one at Bass Pro to try to catch some 'gills.
