Went catfishing on Fork with my new fishing buddy. (step-grandson) Anyway we caught a big cat. Had a huge head and a dwarfed body. also had sores and parasites all over its head. It was about 18" long. I released it b4 i thought to take a picture. was told by a buddy that it was probably a male that was wore out from spawning. All the others we caught were very healthy. Anyone have a clue what the parisites might be? and are they harmfull to humans?

We get them this time of the year on most trips.....5lb head, 1lb body and yes the male is totally spent from the spawn. We call those parasites "lake lice"....not harmful but I throw those fish back.

For some reason it seems that I see those little bugs on channels more than blues. I've also noticed that I see them on fish caught in shallow water more than deep.

Hmmm... when I google images for "lake lice" I get something different. You shouldn't be offending parasites by calling them that grin
