The dog days of summer are in full swing and fishing is GREAT, then good, then not so good then good again. Totally depends on the day and if you can get a school of fish to slow down enough to hit a slab or bait.

Artificials are out catching live bait, no doubt. We had several stripers today caught off of slabs from Fle-Fly. Our big fish of the day came out of 15ft and hit a red and white bendable minnow. We tried throwing other artifiials but the bendable minnow was what they wanted.

Two things i've noticed. Slow your presentation down and when you think you've got it slow enough...slow it down a little more. Also, try down-sizing your bait. The 3/4 - 1oz sizes are killer right now. thumb

Keep moving till you find fish (which isn't hard to do), but stick w/ the school for a while to see if you can trigger a bite. The large schools we are finding arn't feeding hard right now but out of a group of fish, you can normally get a few to bite.

Thanks Tony! The fishing seems to be good on most days. It's a couple here and there that are tough. We had one of those on Sunday. Monday and Tuesday were good though.

Lots of "wolf pack" groups of fish out there. Bunches of bout 75 fish in a group. Maybe I should call them "Cheetah packs" rolfmao cause by the time I turn around to fish them, they are GONE! bolt bolt

Do I see some clouds in the forecast? thumb

Nice fish. They are always on a fast move this time of year. It can be very hard to stay on them once you find them.

Fast? More like super sonic speed. Took a screen shot of a GAZ-ILLION striper yesterday. Turned around and they were MIA! frown

Great shots

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

tell you what, we have thrown a smorgasbord of baits the last week and nothing has fished as consistent as the bendable minnow. I think it's because you can bend it and it flutters down and is a "slow" slab. wink Whatever the reason, it's working so I ain't complaining. thumb
