I am wanting to replace the berings in my curado e7s and was looking at buying a bering kit online. I have never replaced berings in a fishing reel before and was wanting to know if there were any special tools that would be needed to get the job done. If there are any of you that have replaced berings in your reels before and tips or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

make sure you have either a small flathead screw driver or a small pair of bent needlenose pliers. There are retainer clips that hold them down and you would have to bend those in using either the flat head or the pliers to get inside there. Be careful or they would fly across the room and you would hear it hit the wall never to be seen again. you need 2 3x10x4 bearings. Some companies do sell the set. Coast Tackle on here will be able to hook you up with some ABEC 7 orange seals. Or you can contact lurebuddy on here and he can sell you a set of some of his.

If you put your forefinger on the back of bearing clip, and use a pair of tweezers and grab the wire close to end and push in and then pull out, you won't lose the clip. It re-install, using tweezers insert back of clip into a groove in hole, put forefinger on clip and slide the tweezer tip up a little and push in and the clip end will go into the groove.Do same on other end. Here's another tip we tell our clients who come to class, get a gallon size baggie and put reel and your hands inside baggie, if the clip takes off, it won't go into the wild blue yonder, but stay inside bag. Easy Peasy!! good luck.

Thank you guys for the replys! So the bearings are just held in with clips? Sounds easy enough! I was looking at putting Boca berings in my reels. Their website says they come dry. What would be a good lubricant to use with said bearings?

well, here's what we do in our shop and recommend to others. Use the product you like and have confidence in, the trick is to use a drop of oil in a bearing. We use a tooth pick. Too much oil and the internal balls get boged down in the oil and can't get around the raceway. We always check bearings as we get them in and service prior to selling,. Clean your bearings really good and apply one drop of oil, remember, these little guys don't take alot of oil, just a little dab will do ya. When ordering bearings always order them dry so you can service and oil yourself. Sometimes the bearing company forget and send them with lub, we still clean each bearing and service with our choice of oil. We recommend anglers do the same. put bearing on a pencil or screwdriver shaft and spin next to ear. listen to the spin and watch how long the bearing spins. If bad, it won't spin and won't make a good sound. do a few and you will see. good luck

Ardent puts out an excellent product the grease seems to attract less grit and the bearing lube is the best I have ever used. Bonus these products are made in the USA.

Didn't take the time to read the earlier post, but since you are replacing your bearings go ahead and replace them with ceramic bears! You will be surprised how much farther you can cast!

Ok.....I am about to pull the plug and replace the bearings in a couple of Curado 200-B's and use the Boca Orange Seal. I'm sure this will make a huge difference in the older reels. Will it really make a big difference in the 200E's and the 200 DHSV's? Those cast so far now that I can barely see the splash!
One other question. Is the Boca website as good a place as any to buy the Boca bearings?

I don't think they are as easy to replace on the B series as they are on the E series. The one on the tensioner side is the same but the one on the other side is held in with a pin that requires a special Pliers to remove. I am not 100% positive on that but it is what I think I remember.
