I love dropshot. It's my go to method now. I used to hate it because it's so different and you rarely feel the strike, but I can sure enough get a bite in otherwise desperate conditions.

I tried that and it hurt like hell when I closed the lid. I don't get it.

The DS has got to be the most versitile method of fishing I know of from depths of 4 - 40 foot and in all types of cover. When I started playing around with it I soon realised I could fish smaller and more subtle soft plastics than I ever could before without feeling like I was overcooking the baits with hardware and loosing action. Seting them up to punch heavy cover w/a t-riged soft plastic has paid off more than just a few times. There is definitely a time and a place for it and not just for dead sticking finesse baits when things get slow... IMO. I tend to use a baitcaster more often than not cus I find it easyer to pitch to my targets in the junk.

I fish it alot in summer and its very effective-I catch fish when other presentations just don't produce.

But I do find it kind of boring at times, even when I'm getting bit.

I have a love/hate relationship with a dropshot.

I don't think the fish will notice the difference between a Baitcaster and a spinning reel.

It's too boring. It's like jigging for crappy only crappie fishing gets more bites.

Had almost quit drop shotting due to line twist. Started using the River A Tackle drop shot rig and it totally eleminated that. These are the best drop shot rigs made. Hardly ever miss a fish now as well.
