I am in the process of updating my 997c and 797c2 and do I need to download Humminbird PC or just the 997c and 797c2 files that the humminbird site shows for each of my units HumminbirdPC is for waypoint management on your computer. Both in your account are the same. You may want to learn how to use that software at some point. With that, you download the program from your account and then install it just like any other computer software. It is two steps.

The "fuzz" is the thermocline.
The diagonal lines could be gas bubbles-they look that way because the screen is scrolling and/or you are moving as they rise.
Learn how to use the screen snaphot feature so your posted images will be clearer than that camera shot. thermocline or interference? I get the same thing when my TM is running

I have a 788ci hd di combo on the dash with skim transducer at back and a 596c hd di up front with tranducer on TM,(both bought new this year). I'm getting close to a way point & I shut down the motor and troll the last bit of the way. Is there any way that I can hook up my non-GPS FF to my rear Gps unit and see the same picture so I can use it to find the waypoint? ps: I know, I'm from the darkages and I don't much about electronics

No, you cannot display GPS data on a non-GPS equipped unit. The units are not monitors for other units.

The "fuzz" is the thermocline.

Hey Doug,
I see you are the HB expert. What are your recommendations for mounting my 998c SI and 998c DI to my console and bow of my 06 ZX 225. Ram recommends the D111U and D111UC(which has the short arm)?
Thanks

I've used both the 1.5" Ball or 2.25" Ball on the 900 Series and worked fine for me. I like the short arm.

B .VICKERY I'll say it "your transducer is failing" LOL. If you have access to another SI unit, cross test the transducer with that unit and test your unit on their transducer. You can also remove the transducer from the mount and just let it hang in the water below the hull, move it around, to see if one side is still darker than the other. A left side crystal failing seems to be the most common for some reasom. I had a XTM 9 SI 180 T left side go bad.

Did you try scanning the same area opposite direction? Sometime if you shoot downhill versus uphill it will be darker on the downhill side. If it always happens on the Left side I would call HB Customer Service 800-633-1468 they can help you get it resolved. But like Wayne mentioned cross testing is the best way to know 100% for sure it's transducer.
