and instead of a split shot try using a swivel, and dont forget about the double fluke rig.
Tight Lines and Heavy Nets.

Here is some fun for ya. Tie it weightless on a spinning rod using 12# Nanofil line. This stuff was made for casting a fluke! How many times did you see a shad boil because of the schoolies, but too far to cast into them? Never again using this line! Give a weightless Fluke time to get down to the grass and hang on!
If you are using a Super Fluke, add a split ring to the hook eye for added action. fluke are awesome, lake fork Magic Shad is another option.

Weightless....fish it just like a senko. Twitch it, then let it fall a few seconds then repeat.....in the fall and early spring i will increase the tempo of the twitchs. C-rig.....drag it along the bottom either fast or slow, whatever the fish want. Tx-rig......bounce it along just like any other plastic bait.

Flukes are highly overrated and will not catch fish. Send them all to me and I'll get rid of them for you.LOL

The fluke is my go to topwater rig.
Use braid ( I use 50 lb. spiderwire stealth)
Make an 18-24" leader with a GOOD QUALITY swivel to eliminate line twist
Stick a rattle in the fluke
Work it quick enough to stay near the top or break you cadence and let it settle like a dying shad.
Finally, HANG ON as this rig will call up some hawgs!!

The only wrong way to fish a fluke is to keep it dry. All of the tips above work, you will need to keep them wet for a bit to figure out when to use what action.

I don't think there is a wrong way to fish a fluke.

I like to fish it with a weight belly hook. TIP: I also rig it by pushing the hook thought the nose in reverse, then catching the line with the barb and pulling it through. This way after I tie the line, I can set the eye of the hook half way back in the nose. By doing this instead of traditionally sending the eye through then tying the line, the plastic will last a little longer and fluke will stay snug and in place longer as well.

I too had no confidence in the fluke until I fished with a buddy last wensday . We were fishing the edges of hydrilla with them. Mind you, this was the first time I had ever thrown one and I started out with no interest but after about 10 minutes and numerous fish to the boat I can honestly say that I'm hooked on them. We fished them weightless, let them sink a couple seconds, and used a twitching motion
