Just curious why everyone hates to dropshot. I might be weird but I like the technique because I usually catch fish. Just curious.

It's a productive technique, but most people like to search for the bite by casting rather than waiting for the bite to come to you. It's a patience thing, that all and most people only have a limited,supply of it.

It can be tedious at times, but if you find the right off shore hump, it's like nothing else. So I'm not sure who 'everyone' is, but if power fishing isn't getting it done, I'll put my manhood in the rod box and pull out my fairy sticks and do some drop shotting!

I dont fish tournaments much. I fish simply because I enjoy fishing per se. When I go fishing I like to take my time, and enjoy the experience. The point of the whole thing for me is to do something that I enjoy.

multiple knots and line twists are the only downfalls i know. its a great tool.

most people don't realize how versatile it can be. if you play around with it you can use a thicker octupus hook on say 12 lb flouro or mono on a med. action rod or even med. heavy. then instead of the nose hook you can tx rig the plastic and have a totally different presentation for flippin docks or brush. it's a great way to change up a lot of plastics presentations. i was fortunate to be taught about the d-shot by a fella who was very experienced in the versatility of it. thanks ken if you're reading.

I drop shot with a 7ft med/hvy baitcaster and 15 lb fluoro. I rarely fish straight down. I fish it the same places I throw a fball jig or crig. Its crazy how many more fish you can catch with a dshot that wont hit a jig sometimes.

I hate tying them. I love to fish them but getting them hung up and having to retie makes me crazy. I am not a patient man. I need to experiment with weedless rigging I suppose.

As crazy as it sounds i flip a dropshot...and put fish in the boat doing it...i do have the advantage over the fish though by using my own dropshot rig...gets em everytime!
