Can't really say anything new. Fish are doing their thing as usual. 10-14 ft down on structure. Lots of 14 inchers and 15's Almost forgot to mention we stopped to throw a limit of sandies in the boat before we hit the crappie. Sandbass we holding on all the submerged roads and old submerged ramps in 10-14 ft of water. 1/4 oz chart slabs are key with a jig or fly 18 inches above. I had my guy today drag the slab over the road beds. If they were not in the middle of the road, they were on the sides that are lined with rocks. Side Scan helps with this. I'll mark one side of the road with a bouie and then the other. Then, we cast through the bouie like a soccer goal and drag it all the way down the road and repeat. Landed over 150 sandies in an hour. Then we moved on crappie. No surfacing activity. On a side note, don't sit on the road beds. They spook. You have to cast to them.

SAWEEEET. We just got back from Hereford were we cooked our last bit of crappie and striper for the whole family. My dad told me to tell you thanks for the good (crappie) eating. We had a drunken filled fish fry that I'm still recovering from. You guys should book a trip with Carey soon.

What kind of jig or fly would you recommend. Are you using a 3 way swivel to attach the upper jig or fly?
Thanks... Don

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

I put my fly or jig 18 inches up the line on a loop knot. Then I tie on the slab at the bottom. It really doesn't matter what fly or jig u tie on, they will eat it.
But usually, a streamer fly, clouser, or crappie jig in white or yellow.
I make my own slabs and powder paint them. They are the same slabs as MoesTackleshop.com. I don't sell them, I was just sick of loosing 2-3$ slabs. Now they only cost like 3 cents to make.

Just wanted to say thank you to Carey. Yesterday I tried the crappie jig tied 18 inches above my slab. I used a drop shot setup instead of a dropper loop. Caught most of my white bass on the crappie jig and had a bunch of doubles! 153 white and yellow bass yesterday for myself and my fishing buddy. Catch and release this trip. Carey we saw you fly by with that LED strip glowing but did not get a chance to talk to you. :-) Color on the crappie jig seemed to make no difference. I did pinch the barb down on the crappie jig and cut two hooks off the treble on the slab...made for a lot easier catch and release.
