My buddy has a brand new 4x4 Eco Boost he get 24.2 mpg highway and I've pulled my boat to Fork twice with it and got 16.2 both times, and had just as much power as this Toyota has. I travel for a living and I kick myself everyday for buying this Tundra. You won't kick yourself when it is time for a new truck....the tundra will have a lot better resale then the ford.

Does your buddy drive only highway and 60 mph the whole time? That is 3 mpg more then what Ford claims. My fiances hybrid civic doesn't even get the claimed 44 mpg it's suppose to and you can't even drive that thing fast if you want to! haha http://www.ford.com/trucks/f150/specifications/engine/ Quite possibly. The fuel economy goes wayyyyy up driving like that. My truck lifted sitting on 35's can get 13ish towing my boat at sane speeds. If I step on it you can watch the gauge go down, I was late for a tournament with Jason once and trying to make it in time I was running 75 with the boat on the back and got about 9.8mpg hahahahaha. For me it was a toss up between Dodge and Toyota because both make great trucks, I just couldn't find a black 'Yota with a leather interior and I needed the truck then so Dodge won. I may end up with a Toyota next time around when this one runs out of warranty.

Well fellas I'm picking up a 5.7L next week. Test drove both and decided the 1-2 mpg drop in the 5.7L is worth the extra power for pulling. Can't wait! Got a white one so it should look good pulling the boat!

That's what I did. I drove both and the 5.7 just had much more power and torque AND the difference was only a couple miles per gallon. I get about 14 towing my boat but I keep it at 60-65.
The Tundra is the best truck on the road. I drove Chevys and Fords for years. As always, when it was time to buy, I drove 'em all on test drives.
Anybody that does that will buy the Tundra.

have an 06 4.7 liter love the truck tows the boat and even a car on a car hauler great!! very comfortable riding truck.. the 2 and only 2 negatives are gas mileage!! it gets about 12 pulling the boat and the turning radius sucks... on the newer trucks the turning radius issue was bettered (no great but better)

I've got the smaller 5.2 engine. It works find for pulling my boat. The consideration I have is that I don't pull my boat EVERY DAY. So the slight decrease in fuel economy WHEN I do pull my boat on the weekend is ok since I still have better fuel economy daily. And I still have PLENTY of towing power for when I do pull my boat.

Love my 5.7L Tundra. I would NEVER buy an EGOboost, especially with all the Chinese transmission problems they have. If you have an 2008 or later Tundra, sign up for the Tundra Bonus Bucks, even if you don't fish in a tournament. They send you free hats and shirts. If you do fish in sponsored tournaments, then they give you a bonus check if you place in the top. http://www.toyotatrucksbonusbucks.com/
