Reposting this as its own thread due to all of the TFF members (me included) who have been impacted by thugs, thieves and reprobates stealing property. Real time, proactive help is on the way!
I have submitted a patent (which is why I had not posted about it before) on a tracking device which can be implanted in the butt of your rods, butt of a gun or even manufactured inside of baits so that it blends in. The technology would have a remote attached to your boat keys which allows you to activate or disarm the device.
It works similar to the tracking system they have for implanting a chip into your pets. Difference being that, when activated, if the device moves more than 10 meters then you receive an alert and can actually track the stolen items via your cell phone GPS or your computer.
Alarms don't do much anymore. I had over $5000 worth of rod/reels and baits stolen out of my boat and have been working on this since.
I haven't decided on the product name as of yet but "Stinger" leads. Buddy said the catch phrase needs to be "Will the police or you get to them first". Seriously though, one of the issues outside the technology is the vast scenario's which could occur. Will law enforcement act immediately when a known theft has occurred? Obviously the action time is paramount in making the product successful. I am having ongoing discussions with everyone from the Attorney General to local authorities on protocol.
At any rate, I will inform TFF once it goes into production mode. I'll post this as a separate topic because there have been multiple threads of people having things stolen.

AWESOME. Any idea of a price point for these? Really tired of hiding my guns in a friends safe. I need 6 please. I have a ammo manufacturer lined up to actually have the device inside a dummy bullet. The applications will be endless and extend well past sporting goods. Jewelry, artwork, electronics, kids running shoes (to keep track of your kids and if those expensive shoes are stolen then to get them back). No vigilante justice being promoted. You simply have a right to be alerted when your property is stolen. The insurance providers I have met with are foaming at the mouth over this because theft cases have spiked.

AWESOME. Any idea of a price point for these? Really tired of hiding my guns in a friends safe. I need 6 please. Under $100 There are several hurdles to determine pricing. However, the goal is to turn the tables on the thieves by a lower price, mass distribution strategy. I feel that it is key to camouflage the device by having it actually manufactured inside products expected by thieves. Think about one of your Strike King 5XD's being a "Stinger". Totally indiscernible and undetectable by a would be thief. Obviously thieves will become aware of the device. However the success of the product will be its unending possibilities for implanting it. Small enough to be inside of a reel handle for example.

That is an awesome idea! I think you will be very successful with it.
How long does the battery last and is it replaceable since obviously it would have to be on all of the time to be effective on something like a firearm.

Very interesting concept, I like it and hope all goes well for you. When you start to manufacture one that jolts the theif with 200V after 10M of movement or push button remote, I'm in! Seriously though, I hope your product helps in deterring thieves from stealing others property. Good luck!

Not to take anything away from oldarmy1 but I have a product out now called Bandit Buster look it on on tackle warehouse. Think what oldarmy1 is doing is great we neen all the help we can get. I came up with because like most of our members I has $6,500.00 of fishing rods & reels stolen at Lake Fork.
I am for doing what ever it takes to stop the slime!
