My wife and I found a new way to play with the two small terriers we have had for years. I would thread an old plastic bait on a hook with the entire point/bend cut off and pitch it around the living room. The dogs would chase it like crazy. When ever they "caught it," they would chew it and spit it out. I've probably been doing it for like six months. The other day, I put a used Yum Money Minnow on my cut off hook and proceeded to play with the dogs. Before I know it, our girl dog (Roxie) had caught and swallowed the Bluegill colored Money Minnow!!! She tore it right off!!! I screamed like a girl for my wife. She remained calm and called the vet. They said that it it doesn't come out in a few days, give them a call. I felt terrible. What if I killed the dog??? Luckily, it came out the other end last night. Whew!!! What a relief.

If you ever go fishing for rat terriers, take along some Money Minnows.

Did this same thing with a rat terrier my wife used to have. He had a love hate relationship with soft plastics. He loved to chase them but viciously attacked them when he caught up to them. I used to take a 3 inch grub and just tie the line around the body and drag it across the floor or yard. He would go ballistic trying to get the lure. He grabbed one and swallowed it one day and it came off the line as he swallowed it. My wife had been fussing at me about doing this because she was affraid of what might happen. I was like you, absolutley terrifed and didn't know how I was going to tell her. Luckily in about 5 minutes he regurgitated it. Whew talk about relief! Didn't do that anymore......

Lol I have a fox and rat terrier mix and she chases lures all the time while we are messing around in our pool or on our dock. She never gets tired of it

My black lab has eaten phones, socks, whole chocolate cakes and who knows what else. Not to long ago I had tied some new flies. I brought them out to show off and left them on the coffe table. The next morning the kiddo had breakfast and left the plate out long enough for the dog to get hungry eyes. Long story short he ate more then he bargained for.

I watched closely and low and behold out they came a few days later. Amazing....

The funny thing is when they eat empty socks and full ones come back????!!!! Ewwwww!!!!

Glad your pup is okay. They are awfull resiliant.

I was placed with a roomate in some college apartments that had 2 weenie dogs that would always get into my roomates trash. Every time his lady friends would come over the dogs would dig thru his trash. The next day it never failed that the dog would poop in the apartment and you could see the "protection" from the night before. GROSS!!! Needless to say I didnt live there long!

Another good use for braid. If they swallow it, the braid will allow you to just pull it back out and continue the game!

I took my German Shepard down to the pOnd by my house the other day. That dude was jumpin in the water after my worm and he hates getting wet! I didn't think it would be an issue but sure enough he was going after it!

Glad to hear your dog is ok!

I do the same thing with my grandmothers cats. I'll have to try with my blue heeler. He's pretty mellow, though. I hate to hear your doggie did that, but glad she passed it.

Lost a fluke off a rod leaning in the corner a while back, couldn't figure it out, two days later saw a turd with a fluke tail sticking out while mowing. Moms dog ate it... I worked in a vet clinic for three years, I've seen some funny X-rays
