I am planning on heading out to Canyon Lake Sunday.
My problem is I have not been on that Lake since 1986. I am looking for a free launch on south side of lake. I am going to run my old boat and sight see. Getting a few years away from retirement and I would love to live near a lake. So if anyone can offer a suggestion on Canyon I would appreciate it.

Dont know of any free launches on the southside.. Cranes Mill Park or Comal Park is where I've always launched from the south.. I think its 4 or 5 bucks to use the ramp.. ON the north side you can launch for free at Potters Creek.. That ramp gets packed on the weekend so go early.. Last time I checked the lake was only 4.5 feet low..

Here is a link that shows all the ramps, which are now open.

There are several on the southside of the lake that are free Corps of Engineer ramps, maintained by the county and are located in subdivisions.
ramps, 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 8 are all free ramps.

tom's creek is either 6 or 7 i think. you can head out to the main lake and run your boat or go back in all the trees away from everyone else. its a big cove and there are a few fish back there.
