Been lurking for several months and reading all I can.
Need a pointer or two about how to fish the back of the boat. My partner won't give up the front so I am dedicated to the back seat.
Hard to fish a Texas rig as the boat goes by my bait.
Thanks for the help.

Shank him with a size 2 treble hook (or two) in the back of the head and he'll start sharing the front with ya.
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know when to go fishing.

When the back seater can't even throw a C rig...strike one for you! How long has your partner been driving a boat? He gets your braid wrapped up in the trolling motor prop, he'll learn quick enough!
"If you've quit learn'n, you might'as well quit fish'n cuz yer not catch'n as many fish as ya should be!"

When I fish the back with my buddy we work together on varying baits...if one is going to throw a slow retrieve bait we both will

Man you guys are brutal. He can cast better than I can so he might turn and give me one We both fish from fish and ski boats so both up front is tough. I just need to take over for a while and see how well he does from the back. Hopefully time will help but I will rig a practice plug for giving him a lump or two.

Used to fish with a guy that thought he was kvd pre fishing on the trolling motor, he would drain his battery like no other. Only way to compensate is to semi front end him with a fast sinking plastic or crankbait.
He never caught chit so i quit fishing with him

sounds like you need to buy a boat, so that way you can find a new partner that you can give up the front for and fish from the back.
Doesn't sound to appealing does it???
It's his boat, he can fish it any way he chooses, you can either find a way to fish that works from the back, find another person to fish with that your styles match better, or buy your own dang boat..

Yeah, unless you find someone extremely accommodating, get a boat. Sounds harsh but it's a fact of life, owner rules. I have friends that are gold when we go out on their boats but they are the exception. I've been out on tx as a co & been treated as if I'm just dead weight (which I may have been). Either have a good talk with your boater or get a boat. getting into a boat can be as easy as $5000-$7000 if you shop around. Add goodies as you go... JMHO Karl

If both would cast toward the front of the boat, you won't be dragging your bait behind it. That way if you hang up, he doesn't have to turn the boat around, and you can work the bait more effectively. If he has the imaginary line right in the middle that you can't cast across, he's being selfish. I don't mean throw way in front of him where he can't cast, but both angled towards whatever direction you are going if you are working the bank. If you are fishing a deep spot, you probably aren't moving that much so it shouldn't matter. And the earlier post is right about if one is fishing a slow bait then you probably both should. Makes it easier I think. I'm talking fun fishing here, I've never fished as a boater or non boater in a tournament with a draw partner, I have only fished team tournaments with my pops or a regular fishing partner, so we are working together.

easy way to catch fish behind your guy is to down size or slow down even more. if he is throwing a spinnerbait throw a finesse spinner or throw a small crank if your wanting to tx rig while he is fishing a search bait use a heavier weight and work the worm faster if you have to. if yall are prefishing for a tourney and are on a crank bite while he is throwing the one that is working throw similiar sizes and colors and see if you cant find a better bait

It does not matter , in front - middle - back , work as a team . Pin point flipping and casting will do the trick . Keep changing till you find a pattern that works .
