I am wanting to take a canoe fishing trip. Does anyone know of any rivers that you can put in at one spot and float and fish down the river for a couple of days and then get a ride back up to your car?
Thanks Session

Hey texas, you can paddle the brazos river up around possum kingdom. That is supposed to be a good paddle with good pick up points along the way for different distances you want to paddle. Also the neches river has some good paddeling. Try this site for more info. members.aol.com/Mmcbs/

Rochelles is awesome. I used to live at PK and they have a great reputation.

A friend of mine always raves on about the Devils River. He has been making the trip for several years and loves it. Tons of smallies and great camping too. Give me a shout if you want the info and I'll get in touch with him.

I think I saw a show on ESPN where Jerry McKinnis and Bobby Knight fished the Devil's River. It looked like a really nice trip. Buzzbait if you can get me any information on that trip it would be much appreciated.

If you are willing to travel a bit, consider the white river in Arkansas. Beautiful scenery and good fishing.

Upper Mountain Fork river. Smithville Oklahoma..
It runs into Broken Bow Lake. It's not a bad drive.
Smallies in the river and trout around Beavers Bend State Park..

I like the Buffalo River like coach said in Arkansas. Did a seventeen mile float and had the outfitter drop my truck at the takeout point. Didn't have to worry about soneone messing with my truck. Went in October, had low water but wasn't bad at all. Heard elk bugle and saw plenty of wildlife. Great trip want to do it again someday.

481, Who was your outfitter? We use Danny Dillard (Dillard's Ozark Outfitters). My dad and his buddies have used them for years!
They took a trip of about 100 miles one year. The longest I have done was 45. Man do we have some stories from that!

I've done the overnight trip at Rochelle's. It was fun stuff. I've been looking to do it again with some fishing buddies instead of My Princess.

Another good day trip for DFW 'rs is below Whitney. There are two (I think it has been a couple years since I have been there) canoe rental places below Whitney. They will both run lifts to the start and pickup at end depending on which one you use. I have made this trip many times just not in the last two years. Does anyone remember the name of the outfitters on the river below Whitney?
I feel more like I do now than I did when I first got here!

I made that Devil's River trip last June. We caught more than 100 bass (largemouth and smallies) per day. The river is gorgeous and the fishing is unbelievable. If you like fishing more than canoeing, I wouldn't plan a long trip -in miles.
