Oh that has to suck. Even though I know that the bees will remain calm as long as you are calm, I think I would have screamed like a little girl and been in the water. Gator or no gator....

It may have been my last swim, but I don't think I could have stood there with bees inspecting my ears, mouth, nose, neck, etc.

It's only fishing.....

I grew up in Louisiana with gators. They get away from you in a hurry if they think you are a threat. I'm not so sure about what a swarm of bees would do. I think they could have had the boat to themselves had I been aboard.

It reminds me of that Bill Dance outake where he got into the wasp nest. I'm sure he wasn't thinking about gators or anything else when he made his leap into that creek.

Read about that in the most recent issue of Bassmaster. Not fun.

SkeeterRonnie,

The bass in my farm pond in Louisiana just kill the Snap Bean from Yo-Zuri, www.yo-zuri.com/store.html?wc=5 in the rainbow trout color. Somebody tried one a couple of years ago, and I've been using them to keep those trash fish thined out ever since. I'm down to the last one so I was looking them up today so I could buy some more. We have 'potatoes and grease' weekends over there, which means you either catch fish or you eat a lot of french fries. The Snap Bean has saved the day more than once. Since it's a bass/bluegill pond I believe it looks a lot like the bream the bass are acustomed to eating. I've never tried one on a lake over here.

As for my signature, I was tired of advertising for Bay Stealth, so I thought I'd change for a while.

I had something similar happen but on dry land. Out side working on my boat when the neighbor came out with a broom. He went over to a tree in his yard and and started poking in the leaves and branches. What came out of that tree turn the area black. A swarm came out that looked like a special effect from some creaure movie. He hauled butt and I just sat there amazed. Until they started coming my way...all billion of them. Now I hauled it and they landed in my tree just a couple of feet away. I called a bee keeper i got out of the yellow pages and all he said was get your camera, it's rare and they'll move on. So I did and so did they. But non the less spooky because you think of killer bee's and how they attack. And I was worried they would take up residence in my boat.

last year while collecting agate near marfa, we hear this noise... couldn't figure out what it was. we were several miles from the main road, so figured it wasn't a vehicle. anyways, noise gets louder and louder. we look up and the sky just about turns black with bees, and they were hauling @ss! i bet there were doing at least 40. luckily, they just went on by. my friend says if bees chase you to run away from them in a zig zag pattern because they can't make tight turns.

this bee business is kinda scary now that the african bees have moved into texas... yikes!!! i wonder if mosquito repellent keeps them away?
