Thought I might throw this out, for what its worth. This big ole full moon, with no clouds. You folks that have access to a river or drainge above a lake. Get you some Mudcats, and or Small 1-2 lb. Carp. BIG hooks. Strong line, with BIG HOOKS, 'bout 6' apart. Set that out , and bait it before the moon comes up tommorrow. Let it soak. For 48 hours. Whew man! Go it run it, and you just might feel the bottom of the lake move. Good-Luck! Be careful if you do it.
Big Yellars are on the Move.

48 hrs that's a long time. Every 3-4 is what I'd do.

It's a YC weekend. See my August 2012 Catfish Calendar. For set liners, the Yellows tend to run later due to Full (Bright) Moon. My experience shows they tend to bite later than normal & even hit up to 9 or 10 AM into the next day.

Catfish Lynn, I wish I had read that before I took to Stillhouse Hollow yesterday evening. I had some incredible chum, cut shad, cj's punch bait and chicken liver. Couldn't get a bite. How deep should I be fishin'? I tried several areas of depth. I would sit for 30 minutes and then move to a different depth. Maybe it was the timing and not the depth.

I mostly work set lines. For rod-n-reel info, there are a few on here that should be able to help you on that.
Usually, for me, the fish tend to play at Full Moon & Bright nights. Then eventually, playtime is over & it's time to chow down. Also, the Gator Gars run their feed/circuit pattern just ahead of the Yellows. In other words, there schedule is basically the same as Yellows, but they run a few hours ahead. So if you are usin' live bait, they tend to strip them before the Yellows start up.
Now for some, the Full Moon enhances their fishing & timing. So the big thing is to take information, try several times, then try different info & times. By doing this, you eventually find what works best for you. And that is exactly what we all strive for.
