Ive been carp fishing 12+ years and im finally looking into investing into a "euro" rig. Nothing too fancy but def a telescopic tripod. Any suggestions on a good yet inexpensive setup? I would need everything including rods/reels bc all i have ever fished w are ambassador 6500 c4

I would check out Bank Fishing Systems. They have some pretty good all- or mostly-inclusive beginner setups that will serve you to start out on.
I wouldn't get their reels though, I've heard of nothing but trouble with them and actually witnessed one exploding for no reason once. Check into an Okuma Avenger ABF or Daiwa Regal BRI if you want a cheap baitfeeder style spinning reel. They generally run 50-60 bucks I think.

Also can look at the Salt striker reels at Cabelas. Honestly if your not trying to cast big distance, then the Abu's will do just fine paired with the right rod. I had a 7000 on a 9ft rod that I used for a while and still do on an occasion on tight swims.

I'd start with the best you can afford right now. You'll probably have to replace a lot of the gear if you start off with cheap stuff. As said before BFS is a good place to start but a lot of it is real cheap stuff not really built to last. If you go that route the BFS centuron hi pod isn't all that bad, miles above the rest of the stuff on the site for sure. For alarms and indicators cheap is good to start with and the BFS GSP alarms actually aren't that bad, a bunch of us owned them when we started and quite a few still use them. The BFS rod rests are pretty good too. Ben is right on the BFS reels, they definitely do not hold up very well at all. Daiwa Regal plus's aren't bad, it's what I had when I started. The rods are OK but there's a lot of better starter options out there that are all under 100 bucks per rod. I'd also get some rig stuff from www.bigcarptackle.com or any of the others we have in the US. Some coated hooklink braid, a few packs of hooks, maybe some hookbaits, a baiting needle or 2, some swivels, some leads, leadcore, tubing, and whatever. Do some google-ing about euro rigs and how to tie them and you're set! Oh, and definitely get a landing mat and a weigh sling soon! BFS does one of each and they're a necessity for fish care. Also a knotless landing net, you don't have to start out with a euro net but something like the ranger net at academy is a lot better than one that will tear the fish up.

Daiwa Mad Dragon rods 3.25 TC and one of the reels mentioned above. I use a Centron Pod but its an A-type pod and the next one I get will be a tripod. Definitely get you a baiting needle and some bait stops at least!

Get several baiting needles.
Once it cools off, carpers will start meeting up at the bank. I am not sure where in Texas you are, but nothing could help you out here more than first hand experience.

You can find a lot of nice used equipment as well depending on your time frame. You're also following the right method by asking around....there's a lot of tarts here ...unfortunately for now I'm just a tart wannabe.

Amazon will ship the okumas abf50 for free at41$.The abf65 for $48.I bought 4 abf50 and a abf 90 and they have held up well after one year. The price will usually drop a bit if you order during the weekdays. My abf50 average price was $37 and free shipping last summer. ABf 50 about 17oz. the 65 and 90 about 27oz.Although the 50 works with 12-15lb mono I think I would have a preference to the size 65 for 15lb mono, it is a heavier reel though if that matters to you.I cary a 5 pack of rod and reels in my rod bag so saving 40oz. of weight is nice with the abf 50.

dude, save youself the headache and DO NOT BOTHER going to Bank Fishing Systems!!!
use one of the regular carp gear websites that the rest of use and get some gear of a decent name brand. it doesnt have to be top quality stuff, but the cheapest stuff from Big Carp Tackle will be beter than the best stuff from BFS!
