Is there a lake in the central TX area that has good bass fishing? I fish Waco and it has been tough. I have had a lot of people from Belton and Stillhouse say there home lakes are tough also. Have not seen much about Rich.Cham. or Limestone, Granger.

I think the general consensus is that the fishing has been pretty tough everywhere this year. Fall and cooler temps are just around the corner though.

From what I've heard from family, the fish in Belton are producing. And Granger... I would definitely try those two.

I thought about trying the river, was at Buzzer Billy and notice cattails on the bank. Waco has no grass or weeds.

Stillhouse and Belton are tough as probably most other places except Fayette County Lake. The water is so hot, the fish are boiling at the surface!

I was lucky enough to get some time alone on the Brazos. A friend and I intended to fish for yellows that night, but he would of had to leave at three in the a.m., too early. I set out myself on foot with two tubes with tackle, three poles, a bait bucket, and seven foot cast net. Im on a large bend so I just headed up stream. I'd been on the river a dozen times at the river house, but I always had my children, wife, BBQ, etc. point being, today was a full moon and I by far and away had the best day of fishing I'd ever had. I've caught plenty of Brazos fish, but all these suckers were big, at least to me. I didn't get a chance to break out the cat rig or the bass pole. I was just wearing them out with my 5 foot micro graphite with a phlueger trion and a tiny custom square bill. I was lucky enough to catch a striper that was almost as long as my arm. I couldn't get his whole body in the pic!! I've seen big strippers on this thread and this was no where near that size, but it was a great time, especially with my microlite work horse. I caught two channels as well that hit the crank before I could even get the slack from the wind out of the like. It was awesome!! All the fish were biting and they were big. Caught about a three lb drum, three foot needle nose, 10 in. Hybrid and two LMB!!! The LMB weren't big but they ere very healthy and I am just glad to have them around. I'm gonna get up early and throw some perch at ol heller and see what the has to say about it. I hope tonight will be as good as today!!!
