Well, after being away from my little well known fish factory for nearly 2 weeks we headed out early this morning with a goal of at least one trophy bite per person and this morning and at 10:15 Clayton got his! This was Clayton's first trip to Fork and he had never caught a bass on a plastic worm or thrown a Carolina rig so we headed straight out and I taught him the basics of rigging from tying to setting the hook, 2 hours later he had to do a self defense hook set to keep from loosing the rod. It was a total cluster from the start between the fish wrapping up, jumping on the opposite side of the boat to wrapping up under the motor.. With lots of patience and a little luck she jumped close enough to to get her in the net and boy was he surprised. This gorgeouse 10.25# will be having a twin made via Lake Fork Taxidermy and was released very quickly in the exact same spot we landed her in. He caught her in 22' on a c-rigged ole monster with a 1oz Picasso tungsten weight.

His dad tried to best him but came up a little short with this healthy Fork fatty he hooked while long lining a DD22 on a road bed in 25'. He swore he was hung but after farther investigation he was pleasantly surprised!

All in all it was a great day with a nice breeze blowing to keep it pleasant out and very little boat traffic! I think they are hooked and will be back soon for round number 2!!

Thanks fellas! I don't mind days of 8-10 bites when the quality is there! It's been a while since I went hang hunting with clients and boy did it feel good to get it done!
