Headed to Estes Park tomorrow morning bright and early for 10 days of fly's and cool weather. Going to hit the Thompson, Vrain, Fall, & RMNP. Another other suggestions would be welcomed.

Sounds like you got it covered. Only thing I might suggest is hitting some of the lake for some still water action.

My wife and I are leaving a week from Saturday for Estes Park as well. There is a book available that is titled: A Fly Fishing Guide to the Rocky Mountain National Park, by Steven B. Schweitzer published in 2011. It's a great guide to 150 locations in the RMNP. I bet the library in Estes Park has a copy.

The guys in fly shop in downtown Estes Park are also helpful.

Have a great time!

Ditto on Kirk's Fly Shop. Very nice folks and great fly selection. I got to do some fishing in the park during a backpacking trip last week, all on lakes and it was all excellent. Any ranger/info station will have a fishing pamphlet with a map and regulations. Stay away from Moraine Park unless you like crossing lines with countless other anglers (or I guess go midweek).

You might like going for grayling at Joe Wright Reservoir on the Upper Poudre (above the burn area). Here is a video I produced for the Colorado Division of Wildlife.

Great fishery up there! Kirk's is where you should go to get some info, although I can't imagine doing bad there are fish everywhere! I once saw a nice trout in between to culverts in the middle of downtown.
Good Luck!
