The bass that aren't hungry will bite using this technique. Reaction bite.

When I long line, it's usually because of the wind drifting to boat at a fast pace. I like trying to keep, scented bait in the same area for as long as possible so I let the line out as we drift. This is probably not the same thing we are talking about, but it is productive.

I used to do it alot, but haven't since I don't fish Fork or Monticello much anymore. Monticello was an awesome lake for long lining because you would nearly always get your crankbait back. Fork was great also, but I sure left alot of Manns 30+ in the bttom of that lake.

Did it 1st time on the pines yesterday, worked good. Spent some time getting my cranks back . DT16 worked best. XD6 went deeper.

Throw your crank on a moderately heavy Carolina rig. I do this during the winter.
Well, maybe.

It will up your bite ratio. You have to have a good number of fish located, scattered and suspended. Like one of the guys said. Tie a piece of meat on a rope and throw it down the end of a long haul with 20 dogs and one of them is gonna go for it. Takes a lot of blood sweat and tears this time of the year. I would rather yank em out of the grass on a jig or finesse worm this time of the year.
