does anyone know of a spot that i could take my 4 yr old son bank fishing on hubbard. i dont care what kind of fish. i just want him to catch some and not get bored. it could be brim or catfish or anything really. i just want him to catch a lot.

dont worry all fish will be released. i have a freezer full of sandbass and dont need anymore fish. im just looking for a good spot for him to have some fun..

also what should we use for bait.
any help would be appreciated.

Might start the boy out by catching bream/sunfish in a lake that is part of a city park. Use earthworms and a bobber and he can watch the fish move that bobber all around.I'm sure there's a city park by you somewhere.If all else fails, he can enjoy time with feeding ducks some bread. Have fun!

I had the same problem. Posted here with no reply... I have been everywhere around Hubbard looking for a kid friendly place to fish. The only place that came close to being kid friendly was here:

The only bait that worked was live shad. There is a store not far from there that sells it if you don't have a cast net.

If you do have a cast net there is a ramp across the road that usually has a bunch around it.

The park has a playground just in case he gets too bored and there are plenty of shade trees around. I have caught cats and sandies from there. Not sure how the fishing has been lately. I have not been in a few weeks since we got the boat.

Mostly from the bank. I have tried just about all presentations (under bobber, on the bottom, realing it in) and the best one that I have found so far was to use a sinker and a slip cork from the bottom. Gets it off the bottom a little bit. Just grabbed a chair and would move every 15 mins if I didn't get a bite.

Endsley85, I take my kids (3 and 5) to that park in Royse City and fish off the doc of the pond. Those perch are good sized. I don't fish from the bank on RH but i have a cove we go to in Tawak.

I see your in RC, i live in Sunrise Meadows. We should get on the water sometime.

Endsley85, I was just talking about the park at 32.889845,-96.538464 that joebob911 mentioned over on the bluegill forum. Fished from about 6 to 11 a couple days ago and caught a bunch of small perch and 3 cats. Nice park and as was mentioned, there is a playground close to the water. I also like Terry Lane Park in Heath (32.839343, -96.506319) I would say there are more consistent bites there but it's not as kid friendly. The dock doesn't have a rail and the playground is more limited and not shaded.

twakoni4life; i live off of blackland and 30. i went to that park in royce city that thing has some monster catfish in it. we pulled out about 5 or 6 different 5 pounders all fish caought were over 3 pounds

and we should get together. i know ray hubbard like the back of my hand but i dont know tawakoni at all. you could show me the ropes
