Taking the wife and kids to RR August 13-17. Thought I would drag the boat and take the kids out and do some crappie fishin. I fish Benbrook but the wife said no way for camping.I agree. I have only fished RR one other time and with the Lakemaster chip the few brushpiles I checked seemed to be non existent. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

+1 on the COE brushpiles. You will want to find some of the deeper brushpiles this time of year. Most of the piles are still out there, just have to find them.

Most of the piles are in 25-35 foot of water at normal pool. The lakemaster maps are off by about 50 yards. The piles are there.

I don't know if you have reserved a spot yet, but I highly recommend Isle du boise park,it has nice camping sites and the best launch ramps on the lake, also has showers and restrooms, you might pm Ernest about getting a set of C O E brush pile coordinates he sold them for awhile I think, if you fish that lake take lots of minnows and get ready to measure a lot of fish.

You can find most of these brushpiles by idling along the shoreline at the same water depth as the brushpile is sitting in. Also helps to watch any visible landmarks like points on the shoreline to help you target in on the right area. Don't think I ever found a brushpile using GPS alone.

If all else fails, give me a call. If i'm free, I'll be glad to run up and show you where they are. PM'd you my phone number.

Dave

Thanks to all that have responded. Yes we have reserved a spot at Isle du Bois. Only $100 for 4 nights, not bad I think. Yep minnows are easiler I think when have 2 girls 12 and 10. I think they will have a blast.

The brushpiles just east of the dam are good...if its not a weekend,...seems the pleasure boaters are everywhere down there, and they can blow you off the brushpile quick....life jackets and water....good luck!
