NO, it will never become an olympic sport. Too many uncontrollable aspects for that.
However, casting accuracy and distance could conceivably be added. No species of fish is involved. Not many countries in the world that don't have fishing a part of their culture. Skills are required and there is no luck involved.
I would put casting accuracy and distance in the same league as skeet shooting and archery. A sport in which ANY person could excel given the skill sets required.
Sorry but backlash picker-outer doesn't fit but the rest sure do.

No, I wouldn't want it to be honestly. The olympics are becoming a joke. Baseball not an olympic sport but ping pong is?? tell me how that works Base ball is an Olympic sport http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baseball_at_the_Summer_OlympicsI can't believe nobody has mentioned the fact that bass are a non native and even invasive species in many other countries. Freaking logic on this post is causing nose bleeds from stupidity.

Not no but hell no. Lakes are too crowded as it is. bass fishing is boring to watch as well. Not spectator friendly and personally I don't consider it a sport in the traditional sense at all.

I guess you have had your head in a hole if you had to google to find out if baseball is an Olympic sport. Then you backed up your ignorance with a source from wikipedia.

No. The Olympics need to be getting rid of events instead of adding them. Walking is an event for God's sake. The skateboard x game crowd will be added next probably. At least that takes more skill than walking.
