Well I was fishing at the Pool yesterday and was trying my hand at using a jig and while I had more bites using the jig I didn't hook any of them. I have no clue what I was doing wrong, but I couldn't hook any of them to save my life. I ended the evening with only two keepers and only caught three. All the ones I caught were on minnows. Can anyone help me with hookin them using a jig?

Just when you feel them, set the hook and don't give any slack. Usually on a jig you will feel one single thump and that is it!
They can take that jig in a spit it out faster than you can imagine.

by missing the hook up, do mean they are hitting the jig and your missing, or ???
If your waiting on the thump, unless they are nailing it, you've already missed.
Watch your line, most of the time they will come up and grab your jig, you'll get slack in your line. thats the time to hit em.
When you feel the bump, thats them spitting it out, and you've lost your chance already.
Good luck

Use smaller jigs...1/16...1/32 even.....double rig them 14" apart on 6 pound premium mono.......set the hook instantly when u feel or see anything ......I think people use to big a jig sometimes .....
