Do tournament directors not consider that most of the people who fish tournaments are men and unfortunately a lot of us are divorced? Standard custody order is 1st, 3rd and 5th weekends and i've yet to see a schedule planned with that in mind. I know, they do whats best for them and the majority of the anglers, just needed to vent as i see a schedule for 2013 already out and all their tournaments are on the first weekend of the month.

What most, well at least our bass club does is when we vote for dates and lakes at the end of the year is we have a complete list of most all bigger tournaments that are going on then we set our schedule for when we feel we will have most members present aka NOT when the bigger tournaments are and it just so happens that it is mostly the first weekend of the month.Never thought of it that way but we do have a few guys that have to miss some because its their week for the kids. Its not intentional for that we are just trying to maximize our numbers mainly hehe

Is this a joke thread? You want tournaments planned around your marriage status?

Retirement best job ever.

Give a man a fish he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, he'll get a divorce.

Shift work is a pain also. There's nothing wrong with venting about the lack of fishing time.

Understand your pain but not practical. You need to find a club who fishes the second weekend of the month.

actually it would be those fishermen who have kids that are in the 30% of marriages that fail i am asking to be taken into account. One or two conflicts can be worked around, but an entire schedule is a no go.

I hear whining and moaning here about turnouts being low and there are a lot of factors involved in that, but on behalf of divorced guys with a kid we probably wont be at a tournament on weekends we have our kids.

I would like tournaments to be worked around my sons baseball schedule. I know several baseball dads that have had to really cut back on fishing due to there son's\daughters sport schedule's. Can they do something bout that? Also what about work, can they work around my work schedule, even though im not always sure what it will be?

Funny thing is there are many tournaments, a few every weekend all spring. So I think they are working around your schedule, you just have not looked.
