I was at academy a lil earlier and was looking for crappie jigs. They were sold out of almost all of the chartruese and all the pink 1/8th and 1/16th ounce luck E jig heads the only pink jig heads were the Mr. Crappie jig heads made by strike king and were three times more expensive. Is every one loading up on jig heads or something.

You don't have to use colored jig heads to catch fish. The unpainted heads work fine. Just getcha some 1/16th or 1/8th oz. jig heads, some white/chart and black/chart bodies and don't overwork them.

I agree unpainted are fine, but sometimes painted can help. Usually, it doesnt matter.

Academy has the red HH jig heads. Get these in the 1/16th oz and get the elect. Chicken jig body from panfish assassin or bobby garland or one of the other brands. They should work for you. Good luck.

I'd suggest you give Matt Carrol a call and tell him what you want. He can and will make up any combination you want and I know you'll pay less for a hand tied jig than anything you can buy at any tackle shop.
Trust me, you'll be glad you did.

everyone is losing 2 or 3 jigs everytime they go fish ....

i shop there more than academy ......
alot smaller selection , but way cheap ......

What you are experiencing is what I have been complaining about for the past few years....Academy does not stock anything that is not on the floor....If they sell out in a particular part of the year they are out for a while until the next boat from China comes in...Don't get me wrong I love Academy...but this happens every summer. Whenever you see the jig heads you want or the style of jigs...Stock up...cause they won't be there long....or better yet..like Okibob said..contact Matt Carrol...!!

Maybe more? I wished I only loss three jigs per trip at this time of year,if I am only losing 3 jigs I probably not catching or fishing where the big ones are.

What he said....I lose that many on the first brushpile I hit..so that is about 15 minutes! Do ya think Matt intentionally puts me on them jig stealin brush piles so he can sell me more jigs??? Naw...not Matt!!
