Hey guys, my son and I are thinking of fishing the Oakley big Bass classic at conroe in sept. Just wondering if anyone can recommend a decent hotel in the area to stay where its safe to keep your boat overnight. the weigh-in is at papa's on the lake. Not familiar with the area at all. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

There's a Super8 catacorner to Papa's on the Lake across SH 105. I live in the subdivision behind Super8 and see boats there every weekend and haven't heard of any problems. It may help your peace of mind to know that there are 4 Montgomery County Sheriffs dept. officers and 2 DPS officers who live in our neighborhood thumb I'm sure with 6 of them leaving the neighborhood at various times throughout the day, most local idiots steer clear of jacking with anything...but then again, they aren't the brightest people, so... who_knows

In Conroe there's Holliday Day Inn and a few others right on Hwy 45 that would be close to the free ramp on FM 830. Otherwise I know Stow a Way has some new cabins that are reasonable.

I work at the fire station right down the road from the super 8 and it appears to be ok over there. I've seen several boats parked out there and there are two ramps within a couple miles to choose from.

Most all the hotels in that area are nice, although we are still near Houston, if no alarm on the boat I would empty it at night.
