You and your parents get a big high five from this old girl. Mr. & Mrs. C will enjoy your stories from your fishing adventures!! Hope you have many singing lines spooling off those reels.

Pat on the back for ya young man.
Now go catch a mess of fish and give the old folks some filets to show your appreciation.

Thank you for the offer Mr Redneck, but I think I have enough fishing line to last the rest of my life. I was lucky and found some on clearance. Each spool had at least 1,000 yards and I bought 6 spools. 8, 10, 12, 14, 17, 20 pound lines. If I figured right, almost 3.5 miles. Academy had the Trilene marked down for only $3.88 a spool, but only had the 8,10,12 pound and only 1 of each of the 10 & 12.
Thanks again, Jason

If I gave the "kid" down the street some fishing gear it would be because I feel like he would 1. Take good care of it, 2. enjoy it to the fullest.

Jason, good job. Take them some fish and tell them the story about your trip. That will make their day.

WARNING: Mushy, touchy feely stuff follows.
Jason, if you really want to make the giver happy....go share a meal with them and show them photos of the fish you catch and tell him big whopping fish stories that you both can laugh at.
when I was a young man, I too had neighbors just like yours. Mr. and Mrs. Hulsey. Mr Hulsey was a dyed in the wool, die hard, Bass guy. I too would help them with chores around the house, and in return, Mr. H would take me fishing with him. He taught me to use a casting reel.
when I was 19, I left for the Army, and was gone for several years. When I got back, I found out that both had passed away. I miss those two.....they were good, God fearing, dog loving, friendly with the neighbors Americans; the kind we all like to have as friends and neighbors. I miss them.
Take time, go sit with them, talk, laugh, listen, learn..... yours is the life that will be made richer for it.

I believe that I am probably the most proud of Jason. My wife and myself both live with Jason and his mom. Jason lost his father when he was 3 and never had a male figure in his life except for occasional visits with myself and my twin brother. Since my stroke 7 years ago and we all moved in together, Jason has waited on me hand and foot, literally. Jason taught me to get up on my hands and knees, then to balance myself, then to stand and take a few steps, to use a fork and take a bath. His friend are not his age, all are 25 and over. "Guys my age are immature". He works a small job for a mechanic and contributes to paying the bills and has never been asked. We talked last night until 3:00am and he say he does not understand all the fuss about trying to help a little. "There is 24 hours in a day, I sleep 9-10 hours in the summer, I help out at the garage 4-5 hours, I read 2 hours, 2 hours to help around the house. That leaves me 5-7 hours to do what I want". He told me "as Mr. Obummma says, Its the right thing to do", and it's what GOD expects from everyone. Brough tears to my eyes. This is the Jason that I know, and I love him dearly!!!!! And certainly does want nor expect anything from anyone other than a Thank You.
Love you Jason, Grandpa

Just when i thought the youth of today had no respect.
"There are many good fishermen and some great ones. But there is only one you." "Fish, I love you and respect you very much. But I will kill you dead before this day ends" "Ernest Hemingway"

....just read this thread and I have to say that Jason, you are one heck of a young Man and your Family should really...and I mean really be proud of you and your actions. My Son is 18 now and is of the same calibre as you are. We went fishing not too long ago and there was an older gent and his wife fishing off the bank where we had launched from. As I was backing the trailer in I saw him walking over to the couple with two nice Reds. He gave them two of the fish that he had caught out of the kindness of his heart. Gets in the truck and reminds me that we have a pile of filets in the freezer already. It's young Men like you and my Son that re-affirm my belief that there are still some kids out there that aren't glued to the TV or an XBOX and know how to do what's right.
.....SALUT! Jason!!
...so good it tastes like it died screaming!

I'm only 26 but man this kid really makes me think that there is a little hope left in this world, I was lucky as I had a G-Pa like his and was raised right. I am very proud of this kid and I think what the old man would most appreciate is for him to come on down with is G-Pa and shoot the breeze, hanging out with that much wisdom will also greatly improve your view of life. Good Job Bud!

Jason, I take my disabled neighbor to Sylvan Beach Pier and he gets on for free. Maybe Mr C would enjoy a trip to the pier even if he is unable to fish for himself. Since taking my neighbor he has changed his attitude a lot for the better.
Enjoy your new equipment and good luck on catching a limit every time
Robert

I'm not in Mr C's condition (yet-just getting there) but sure wish I had a neighbor like Jason!
