(1) How many serious boaters here check the partner finder section?
(2) Mods, is there any chance we could add another attribute to each member's profile to show whether they are a boater or non-boater? Do we have a reasonable estimate of where our membership base comes from?
I know I can join a bass club to link up with some serious boaters, and I plan to do that soon. In a club, maybe I could learn from 20-50 different anglers. Imagine how much I could learn from 200 different anglers! I'd like to learn from as many different people as I possibly can to maximize my learning. I think you can do that to an extent via this forum, but it's never s substitute for time on the water.

Stan, way to go man! That's the way to step up and help a poor, poverty stricken (i.e., boatless) man in a time of need! Thanks very much for the offer. I know I'll be able to get away from Houston hopefully after the first of the year. Is early January typically a decent time to be on Fork? What sort of pattern/baits might on expect that time of year? I'm not concerned with learning any specific lake, but I'm VERY serious about learning techniques and pattern learning on different types of lakes. I'll send you and email if you'd prefer and we can plan something?
Schmedley, don't think for a second that you're any less worthy of a hug now too! (Sorry, promise I won't hug you!) And don't doubt that I'm willing to drive up there to learn some techniques from you on Belton! Same story, as soon as the new year has passed, I'll have more free time on the weekends, I'm just a little pressed the next couple of weekends. When is a good time to plan a trip over to your neck of the woods?
Either of you can email me privately at needaboater@yahoo.com if you want to talk about scheduling a day on the water.
Ok, who else out there would like to teach me something? How often do you hear a man willing to admit he doesn't know it all and wants to learn anything and everything you can teach him? Well, now's your chance! Post here or email me at needaboater@yahoo.com

Glad to see that someone knows the advantage of learning many different techniques and all of the little tricks that people do to refine them. Would love to learn and share, give me a call when you are around. wiredeffect@hotmail.com

Stan, will do! I'll take whatever time on the water I can get now that I'm boatless. I decided this is definitely the best time to learn from the knowledgebase that is available here at TFF.
bass_addict, thanks for the reply and the offer! I knew there were good folks around here that had the time to teach, and it looks like I'm finding 'em now. Maybe I'll get something coordinating with Stan for a day on Fork and the next day you and I could work something out on another lake in the DFW area, or even on Fork again, who knows. I'm really excited about the months ahead if I can keep finding more and more folks who are willing to trade a backseat and some tips for a fair share of gas money! I'm kinda looking at this like working on your degree in college, except this is more like a tech school where you learn hands-on. I've been to Bassmasters Uni and it's nice, but time on the water learning from someone else is priceless.
It's not like I'm trying to learn enough to make a run for The Classic, but I love learning...and I really love learning the science/art of bass fishing! I've never understood why so many anglers are too proud to learn from others. If you start adding up the hours on the water from all the TFF'ers, add onto that the number of articles they've read, plus the countless number of conversations with other anglers...ok, y'all get the idea! There is so much to learn from one other angler, and so much to learn about how different anglers approach the same situation with such different strategies.
Thanks again Stan, Schmedly & bass_addict! I'll be in touch!

Hey needaboater, know how to tune three carbs on a 60hp johnson outboard. That's all it needs to go to the water. Ben going to Lake Houston lately trying to fish a lake closer to home than hours away.

Paul67, thanks for posting the offer! I replied back on the thread below since you posted there too. In short, by the time I ruined the first 2 carbs tinkering with 'em, I'd probably have figured out how to get the third one right! LOL! I'm in the Spring area, near Kuykendahl & Louetta. shoot me an email at needaboater@yahoo.com http://www.texasfishingforum.com/cgibin/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=40&t=000942
